ingredients:

wire (14 gauge steel used here found in hardware dept)

wire cutters

foil

lightweight witchcraft clay (model magic or paperclay or whatever) or paper mache

plaster or some other crack filler (look for shit that says it wont shrink for best results)

sandpaper

acrylic paint (folk art has good troll horn shades)

mod podge or similar sealant

painter or masking tape

thread and needle

headband

power drill*

screws*

hot glue*

cut to lengths of wire long enough for your trolls herons. thesell be the skeletons even thou horns dont actually work that way i know science but this isnt biology shut up im explaining shit here. FOR THE LOVE OF GOG use a REFERENCE PICTURE and look for a HERO MODE REFERENCE to get proportions good!!!!
bend the wires into the shape of the horns youre making here. im doin gamzee OBVS. if yore doing small ones like karkat nepeta terezi or even sollux id say make spiral springs for the skeletons but for long ones like gamzee kan equius (for the not broken one) vriska aradia fef and eridan just use a single long wire bent into the general shape. this tutorial will not work for tavros man seriously im not magic. PUT THEM UP TO YOUR HEAD HERE AND MAKE SURE THE SIZE IS COOL IF TOO BIG CUT THEM SHORTER IF TO SMALL WAY TO GO START OVER
using long stripes of foil build the bulk of your horns. keep using our reference pic!!! notice theyre thicker at the bottom than top taper it up. by the way this parts fuckin stupid for any horns that arent strait like kan vriska eridan and ARADIA. make sure you ad the detailed ends for kan and vriska. you mite need tape or glue to hold them in place thats cool no one will see this inside shit
when everything all formed into shape take ropes ofm witchcraft clay and coil it around the horn from the bottom up smoothing it out as you go. try to use as few ropes as possible when using model magic (two super long roaps are best) because this shit is bottom tier witchcraft clay and any seam that doesnt smooth flat will crack like egg being interrogated by the cops. paper mache works here too but itll need more attention at the sanding step and they wont be as lightweight
look at these fuckin asshole cracks gogdamnit why cant shit just work the way i want it to well this is filler time i used wood filer because it was the only filer i saw in hardware that promised not to shrink (shrinking=MORE FUCKING CRACKS). just apply more than you really need and scrape it flat using one of those spackle things (or the back of a spoon lol). let this shit try
sand everything smooth. use a fine grit paper and be CAREFUL if using witchcraft clay it can shred terrible if you dont pay attention
paint one side of them yellow. wait for it to dry (HAIRDRYER BEST FRIEND) then flip them and paint the other side. keep your brush strokes all the same direction make it pretty. keep making coats until you cant see thru the paint
check your ref pic again look at how far up the orange part goes. tape off whats staying yellow (cause the horns taper a solid piece of tape wont form a solid ring around the horn. cut it into three little pieces and connect them around the horn keeping careful that the edges match up good so the line is clean. ALTERNATIVELY dont tape at all and freehand the lines you can blend colors to gradient it all realistically or whatever if you want im going for solid bars like in the comic
paint the orange. be CAREFUL painting along the tape dont push on it or paint wil get shoved up under the tape and look like shit. let try (HAIRDRYER) and ad coats until not see thru
BE CAREFUL AS FUCKING POSSIBLE TAKING THAT TAPE OFF SHIT IT MIGHT NOT ONLY TEAR THE YELLOW BUT THE ORANGE TOO GO SLOW
repeat steps 8-10 for the dark orange
two choices here: paint the mod poge/sealant on OR do this crazy fuckin dip shit im about to lay down. if youre painting just go neat keep your brush strokes the same direction cause theyll show. this is cool if you want them science realistic because keratin does that with real animal horns but im going comic cartoon looking go watch this bullshit i did
find somewhere you can hang your horns. put paper towels or a plate or plastic bag under where theyll hang cause theyre going to drip shit all l over the gogdamn place
thread your needle TIE IT TIGHT HOLY FUCK and tie the other end onto what youre going to hang it from. i used a hook in my ceiling but really you can use like the back of a chair or the bar in your closet or even a DOORKNOB just make sure NOTHING WITH TOUCH OR MOVE THIS SHIT. EVEN IF ONE LITTLE TINY THING TOUCHES THIS IT WILL LOOK SHIT. IF YOU HAVE PETS KEEP THEM OUT OF THE ROOM>
dip the bottom of your horn in the mod poge/whatever. stick the needle into middle bottom DEEP pull on it a little and make sure it will not come out just from the gravity of it hanging on its own wait. make sure no thread end is touching the horn. IT WILL BE OPAQUE WRITE DONT WORRY BRO IT DRIES COMPLETELY CLEAR!
yeah your hands are messy now arent they? hold this shit from the needle and dip the top of the horn (whats supposed to be the top it shoud be upside down now) in the mod poge. make sure NOTHING HAS TOUCHED THE COAT OF MOGE POGE AT THIS POINT it must be so PRETTY AND SMOOTH it might have lines where drips are happening but theyll work themselves out.
HAIRDRYERING IS A FANCY TRICK BUT DO NOT USE IT HERE THIS HAS TO DRY AU NATURAL OR IT WILL FUCK UP
go wash your hands. let them dry. theyll drip everywhere. its all cool
dont fucking touch them until they are 100% clear and dry i SWEAR this is important
when theyre dont start on the headband. stand in front of a mirror. get a marker. hold the horns up on the headband and move them until theyre at the right positions and angle. draw around where they are on the headband with the marker. well use this
draw a dot in the center of your marks. using whatever that carving drill bit is in the size of the screw youre using, drill all the way though the headband SLOWLY you dont want to brake the headband also dont screw yourself with the drill get help if you need it. if youre unsure whether or not you can do this yourself GET HELP
screw the screws through the headband
if your headband isnt black this would be the time to make it black. you can paint it or cover it with black ribbon or electrical tape. i havent done mine yet and im not telling why i dont have to explain myself to yo people stop looking at me
first instinct will be to screw the horns into the screws DONT itll just twist up the mod poge and tear shit. use something stabby (smaller drill bit/sharp pencil) to stab a hole strait into the bottom of the horn. from here push the horn onto the screw until the screw reaches the foil layer. when you hit foil screw it in until its on all tight and in the rite position
if at this point it doesnt seem like the screws will be enough to hold the horn on the headband, unscrew the horn and get your hot glue. fill the hole you stabbed into the horn with hot glue and screw it back into the headband as tight as you can. i did this with my first horns (aradia) and it worked well until i threw a book bag on top of them and broke everything (dont do that)
