Project Name: Caledscratch - More Than a Prop Build
Background: This project took me little over 3 months totalling 200+ hours of build time making it one of the most time consuming of all my projects. It features a functional DJ mixer with 4 amplified speakers in which is all powered by a 12V lead acid battery. This prop weighs roughly 23 lbs. A link to the whole build can be found here: http://imgur.com/a/cD7Ev#0

A quick Terezi coplay for my sister (madamerubyrae) for Fanime today!
Carved the horns in foam with a dremel, plastered them, spackled them, painted them, lacquered them, and screwed them on a headband. And I’m proud as hell of how they came out.
Terezi Pyrope is from Homestuck.

Q:Another bit about Scarecrow fangs: FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS -EXACTLY.- Definitely do not lean forward at all while they're setting or you WILL drool uncontrollably for fifteen minutes or so and that is not a fun experience. And make sure they're symmetrical! (I got some for a Marceline cosplay and I accidentally made them lopsided.)
thanks for the info!
all asks/submits that pertain to answering cosplay questions are tagged “cosplay help” along with whatever theyre relevant to, just to let you guys know if you even feel like looking through the advice others have given! also dont feel afraid to let us know about anything if you think its relevant/useful to have on this blog! 8^y
Dental student here! Re: your previous question about fangs, you would be really surprised at what you can do to customize fangs to suit your own mouth. If a fang isn’t fitting your tooth properly, you can use a dremel tool with a small bur, or even a rough nail file, to grind the fang into the right shape. For example, if you have a premolar in place of a canine for whatever reason, you could file down the back of a pre-made fang so it wouldn’t interfere by banging into the extra cusp on your premolar. Same thing with fangs that are too wide for your tooth - just file off the sides until they’re the correct width.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even make some custom fangs (using the nail acrylic method or whatever) and get fangs that will fit your teeth perfectly, no matter what shape they are. But if you’re considering doing anything that involves using dangerous chemicals, please make it on a plaster model as already suggested here and here, and not in your actual mouth!!
Also, I’m hesitant to make a suggestion about the fangs with braces thing… but if you are dead set on getting fangs to fit over your braces, I would suggest getting a soft wax to hold the fangs onto your teeth rather than using the plastic molding material that comes with the Vampfangs kits or heat-molding Dental Distortions teeth over your brackets. If you’ve just gotten braces, you may have even been given some wax by your orthodontist to prevent your brackets from irritating the inside of your mouth. (The stuff is pretty cheap on its own too - just search for “orthodontic wax” on Ebay or something.) The wax may be a pain to clean off your brackets once you’re done, but it’s better than accidentally de-bonding a bracket and having to go back to your orthodontist to get it fixed.
Anyway, I hope this helps point some people in the right direction!
