A quick Terezi coplay for my sister (madamerubyrae) for Fanime today!
Carved the horns in foam with a dremel, plastered them, spackled them, painted them, lacquered them, and screwed them on a headband. And I’m proud as hell of how they came out.

So, I’ve been working on some Sollux horns in the past few weeks…
I used Das air-dry modeling material over an insulating-foam-and-tinfoil core. I didn’t have any problem with cracking - no, my problem was with (for lack of a better term) “divots” in the material that no amount of sanding would get rid of.
It turns out that DAP Wallboard Joint Compound works great for filling in those divots, and it’s very easy to sand. The only downsides are the following:
- You have to wait about a day before you can sand it.
- It took me about fifteen minutes to half an hour of sanding per horn to get rid of the excess joint compound.
- Sanding down the joint compound produces a lot of dust.
okay so this isn’t an offical dandy tutorial or anything, because what is computers. (I’m on my PS Vita.) Buuut I just wanted to show you guys how I did my Tavros horns.
my bro Dave and I started our with two 12” (or 1 ft) long styrofoam cones I got at Michel’s. (WARNING: NOT CHEAP) Also please note my friend Dave is doing all the work here. So we (and by we I mean she) started out by covering the tip with Model Magic Air Dry Clay. (WARNING: ALSO NOT CHEAP)
Then, as you can see above, we moulded the tip of the clay into a more horn-like shape by curving them into points. After that was dry (and it dries REALLY light) we wrapped the rest of the cone with… Okay it’s SUPPOSED to be masking tape, and I highly recomend you use masking tape for this, but Dave didn’t have any, so we used painter’s tape. It’s more difficult to put on smoothly and correctly, and it also peels off easily and it’s just not recommended at all. Dave just did a wonderful job at putting it on.
after the rest of the cone is wrapped with “masking tape” save for the tip where there is already clay, Dave smoothed and flattened peices of Model Magic to plaster onto the horn. It doesn’t matter what color clay is used, because it will just be painted over. It should be noted that darker colors will need more coats of paint than the lighter clays.
The horns might feel much heavier than they should, but don’t worry; the clay just needs time to dry. We ran out of clay and paint, so we weren’t able to finish the horns today, but I will post the finished horns when they’re done. (we also took a break and watched Like a Huss)
YUP. I HOPE THIS WAS USEFUL.

Duck tape Sollux horns. Made for a friend in Idahostuck.

Wearing these horns makes you feel ANGRY … YOU JUST WANT TO SHOUT AT EVERYONE IN ALL CAPS! ALL THE TIME!
Duck tape has no drying time. These horns were done in a little less than 2 hours. It probably could have taken less. Note: They aren’t taped to the headband, that’s a strap.
Based off of the candy corn model from here: http://sinner-playingwithart.blogspot.com/2011/10/halloween-2011-paper-toys-jack.html
I took my glasses off for the added effect of the bags under my eyes … sleep is for the weak … and those with less homework … D:
These were made for a friend who is cosplaying Karkat at AO this year.

: [Tutorial] How to make Equius Horns
First and foremost welcome to my tumblr! In this guide, I’ll demonstrate to you how I created light and sturdy Equius horns for cosplay (or just for fun).
Materials
The materials I used consist of:
-One Headband

if I ever have to make another pair of UU horns I’m gonna kill things
just kidding kind of
Source: ophiuchustroll
random photoset of uu horn progress mostly for myself
missing steps: sanded without primer, painted without gloss, not attached to headband
Source: ophiuchustroll
So I made a whole shitload of troll horns because I have so much damn model magic
The only completed ones I have are those little nubbly Karkat horns (I really just made them so I could get a handle on how to actually paint the horns).
I also have a pair of Equius horns but I left them at school because they needed to dry.
EDIT: I was told I can’t commission them (I wouldn’t want to offend the ol’ Huss). Sorry, darlings. :c
